About ClearTap
We help homeowners and renters get clear, practical answers about home water quality — well water problems, filters, softeners and reverse osmosis — grounded in NSF and EPA standards, not scare tactics or a sales pitch.
Water advice online is confusing on purpose. Official pages are accurate but dense, forums are readable but often wrong, and a lot of "advice" exists to sell you a $2,000 whole-house system you may not need. We sit in between: plain-language explanations built on NSF/ANSI certifications, EPA drinking-water standards and manufacturer specifications.
How we write
Every guide starts from a real question — which cartridge fits your fridge, how often to change it, what a metallic taste or rotten-egg smell in well water really means, whether reverse osmosis water is good for you. We answer in everyday words, give concrete numbers (grains per gallon, TDS, microns, NSF standards 42/53/58), flag the common mistakes, and point to the NSF or EPA source so you can check it yourself.
What we are not
We are an independent educational site — not a testing laboratory, a water-treatment contractor, or a medical authority. Unlike lab-based review sites, we do not run our own water lab and we do not lab-test the products we discuss; our picks are built from published manufacturer specifications, NSF certifications and EPA standards, plus the symptoms readers actually describe. Nothing here is medical or drinking-water advice. For any decision that affects health or legal compliance, test your water with a certified laboratory.
